How to Hang Wall Decor Without Getting Divorced

Why is it that hanging wall decor with your spouse seems to be the quickest way to divorce court?!!?

I don't know about you, but I tend to instantly jump to a level 8 crazy when my husband helps me hang stuff on our walls!! My OCD gets me twitchin EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! My NEED for perfect placement will ultimately lead to 50 nail hols in the drywall (and the death and destruction of my husband)!!!

WELL, NO MORE MY FRIENDS!!!!!

Let me show you how to hang your wall decor without getting divorced!!!!

Step 1. GRAB SOME WRAPPING PAPER:

If you have any leftover wrapping paper from Christmas or birthdays, now is the time to pull it out!

Step 2. TRACE AND CUT:

Turn your wrapping paper over, and trace the items you want to hang onto the BACK of the wrapping paper. Now, simply cut along the lines you just traced.

Step 3. MARK HANGING HARDWARE ON PAPER:

Place cutout (blank side up) on the back of your item. Try to align the paper as close as possible to your item. Secure the paper along the top with a small piece of tape. Now run your finger over the hanging hardware to make an imprint on your cutout. You can also shade over it with a pencil to make it easier to see.

Here, my frame is hung by a wire. It was a little trickier to mark on paper than the keyhole cutout because I wanted to make sure my marking would be in the center of the wire. So, for this guy, I just

made sure to push the wire as far as it would go up toward the top of my frame. Because my paper was taped down along the top, I was able to flip it back over with my hand still pushing on the wire and use my other hand to rub an indention onto the paper.

Once I could clearly see where the center of my wire was, I used my pencil to shade over it.

One last thing. If your items are all roughly the same size and shape, you may want to label your cutouts so you know which one goes with what.

Now for the fun part!!! :)

Step 4. LAYOUT AND DESIGN:

Lay everything you want to hang out on the floor and arrange and rearrange until you get it just the way you want it!

Step 5. HANG PAPER CUTOUTS:

Now that you have decided on a layout, tape your paper cutouts to the wall based on your design on the floor. This way, you can step back and tweak your design over and over just by moving the cutouts!! No unnecessary holes in the walls!!! (And no untimely death for my husband!)

Once you've achieved perfect placement, simply drive the nail into the wall through the cutout where you've marked it!!! GENIUS right!?!

Step 6. HANG YOUR WALL DECOR:

Now all that's left to do is place your items in their designated places on your wall!!

(**Note: If your cutouts are pretty close to the size of your items, then you can leave the cutouts on the wall behind your decor. This way they are ready to go if you ever decide to move things around!!)

There you have it, friends, a method for hanging wall decor that will save your marriage!!! Who knew it could be this simple?!

However, if even the thought of trying to style the walls in your home overwhelms you, then worry no more because I can take care of it for you!!
