When to Start Decorating for Fall

I KNOW you have probably noticed all the fall decor out in stores. (I think it has been out since July 5th!) That's because it's time to start thinking about decorating your home for fall!! If you are anything like me, I LOVE the holidays and CANNOT wait to start decorating for fall!! However, this poses the question, "When is it ok to start decorating for fall?".

When to start decorating for fall

FIRST DAY OF FALL - SEPTEMBER 22:

The first official day of fall is September 22. However, TV personality, internet sensation and your Certified Celebrator Brittany Young says she goes full on fall September 1st! I have to admit, my heart did a happy dance when I heard this!

(Check out her super adorable back to school fireplace mantel below!)

However, if you're not a fall junkie (like me) and September 1st feels too early for you, I have a few ideas to help you slowly transition from summer to fall!

TRANSITIONING FROM SUMMER TO FALL:

START WITH BACK TO SCHOOL:

Mid August start adding in vintage books, chalkboards, and apples to your centerpieces and throughout your home.

ADD IN FALL COLORS:

When September rolls around start subtly adding in fall colors throughout your home with accent pillows and fall-colored candles. Also, don't forget to change out your throws to ones with soft warm colors.

(AHH! don't you just love how even the thought of fall makes you feel cozy and relaxed?)

(Mentally wrapping myself in a warm blanket and sipping hot chocolate!!)

(Ok, maybe not mentally!)

DECORATE FOR FOOTBALL SEASON:

Football season officially kicks off September 7th! So, if you're hosting a kickoff party, you can make super cute table arrangements by mixing in your fall decor with footballs and other festive gear. I feel like football season is the PERFECT way to integrate fall decor into your home!! You get to bring out the leaves and fall flower arrangements while saving your pumpkins for later!

(See video below for Brittany Young's tutorial on creating a football vase!)

IT'S TIME FOR PUMPKINS:

Mid September, you can slowly start to take away the footballs and get ready to add in your pumpkins on October 1st!!!!!!!!
